Zenag Chicken supporting women entrepreneurs at the recent Women’s Economic Empowerment Expo in Lae, distributing practical poultry farming resources to encourage mothers to start or grow their poultry businesses.

Held at Eriku Oval, the expo brought together women from across Morobe Province for skills training, business networking, and empowerment workshops. Zenag Chicken’s presence focused on practical solutions — giving out Day-Old Chick (DOC) booklets, poultry care guides, and other farming materials designed to help women turn poultry into a reliable source of income.

“Our aim is simple — empower mothers with the knowledge and confidence to start poultry farming,” said a Zenag representative at the event. “Chickens are an accessible and profitable small business option that can support families and communities.”

The training materials provided covered essential farming topics, including brooding, feed management, disease prevention, and housing setup. Zenag staff were also on hand to answer questions about caring for chicks and managing poultry businesses at a small scale.

For many women attending the expo, poultry farming was not new, but access to reliable information had been a barrier. Zenag’s practical guides offered a clear roadmap to improve their practices and increase their profits.

One mother from the Huon Gulf area shared her excitement:

“Now I know how to properly care for the chicks and keep them healthy. This training will help me grow my small poultry business.”

Throughout the day, Zenag Chicken distributed hundreds of booklets, encouraging participants to share the resources with others in their communities. The company also emphasized the role of poultry farming in supporting food security, child nutrition, and rural livelihoods.

The Women’s Economic Empowerment Expo served as an important platform for connecting businesses like Zenag Chicken with aspiring female entrepreneurs. The company’s efforts highlighted how practical training and industry support can help women gain financial independence and create sustainable livelihoods for their families.

Zenag Chicken has committed to continuing its outreach to women farmers across Morobe Province, with future plans to host small workshops and field visits to further support mothers entering the poultry sector.

By providing tools, training, and encouragement, Zenag Chicken is helping to turn simple poultry farming into a pathway for empowerment and long-term success for women across PNG.
